It can be confusing when selecting a dentist and dental implant center for dental implant treatment. Don’t be caught off guard by all the mixed messaging happening at dental implant centers.
1) “Teeth in a day” usually means temporary teeth
- Most centers place a temporary fixed bridge right after surgery (if you qualify), not the final zirconia.
- The final teeth are made after healing and bite refinement.
2) Your result depends on bone + bite + health, not just the number “4”
- Candidacy is affected by bone volume, sinus anatomy, bite forces, and habits like grinding.
- Smoking/nicotine and uncontrolled diabetes can increase complications and may change timing/options.
3) The “teeth” are a prosthesis, and materials matter (a lot)
- Long-term comfort/strength can vary by material (acrylic vs hybrid vs zirconia) and design.
- Ask what your final teeth will be made of, and what that means for durability and repairs.
4) Maintenance is real (even with implants)—plan for it
- Even fixed teeth need professional maintenance, home care tools, and occasional part replacement.
- You should know what the yearly maintenance looks like and whether it’s included.
5) The timeline should be clear: surgery day ≠ finish line
- Healing, bite stabilization, and esthetics usually require follow-up visits.
- Ask for a simple timeline: surgery → temporary → healing → final teeth → maintenance schedule.
Polite but powerful” questions to also ask the dentist.
- “Are same-day teeth temporary or final?”
- “What’s my final material—zirconia or acrylic?”
- “What maintenance will I need yearly?”
- “What are the common complications and how are they handled?”
- “What’s the full timeline in writing?”
