All-on-4® FAQs: Recovery, Eating, Longevity & Downsides

Thinking about All-on-4®? Here are clear, patient-friendly answers:

All-on-4® is a full-arch dental implant treatment that replaces an entire upper or lower set of teeth using four strategically placed dental implants to support a fixed, non-removable bridge. It’s designed to give eligible patients a stable smile that looks natural and helps restore confident chewing and speaking—often with temporary teeth placed the same day as surgery, followed by a final set after healing.

Downsides: It’s still surgery, not everyone is a candidate, there’s usually a temporary-teeth phase, and you’ll need ongoing maintenance/cleanings.
Recovery: Most people feel significantly better in 3–7 days, continue improving over 2–6 weeks, and implants fully integrate over about 3–6 months (varies).
Eating steak: Many patients can enjoy steak after healing and final teeth—early on you’ll be on soft foods to protect the implants.
How long it lasts: Implants can last many years (often decades) with good care. The teeth/prosthesis may need occasional maintenance or replacement over time.
